Whole New Thing
Amnon Buchbinder, Canada, 2005
7:00 pm

Thirteen-year-old Emerson is the protagonist of this unusual coming of age story. Living with his parents in an eco-home in the wilds of Nova Scotia, his mother enrolls the home-schooled youth in the local public school where he meets Don Grant, a solitary, 42 year-old English teacher. Emerson, initially scornful of his teacher, quickly develops a crush on him. The precociously confident boy, raised in a household of casual nudity and sexual openness, throws himself into this awakening of his heart with dangerous abandonment. This is going to be a whole new thing, for everyone.  35mm, 92 min.
