Thanks for a fabulous Reeling!
11 days, a dozen sold out shows, nine parties, over 50 visiting artists, this year’s Reeling was amazing!
Thank you to everyone who helped to make it happen – filmmakers, actors, staff, sponsors, volunteers, and, of course, our wonderful audience members!
If you missed this year’s festival, you’ve got a whole year ‘til Reeling 27. In the meantime, here’s what you missed:
It all kicked off with our sold-out screening of Shelter. The boys in wetsuits were delicious, the martini bar was worth the wait, and Brad Rowe was adorable. On Friday our African American films Blueprint and Underneath packed Columbia College’s Film Row and then on Saturday our sold-out show of A Four Letter Word brought the house down, and the crowd kept the afterparty going at Rubin’s Chicago Room Gallery until the early morning. Then came the celebrities! On Tuesday it was Bruce Vilanch in town for Naked Boys Singing, on Wednesday RuPaul’s outrageous Starrbooty was a true crowd-pleaser, and the lesbians loved Itty Bitty Titty Committee, Guinevere Turner, and the L Word afterparty. The sold-out screening of Quearborn and Perversion was the perfect union of Reeling and The Chicago History Museum, covering the eclectic history of GLBT life in Chicago. Finally we closed out with the ‘80s themed Curiosity of Chance and partied the night away with actor Brett Chukerman and director Russell P. Marleau.
If you are left wanting more Reeling, listen to interviews with RuPaul, Brett Chukerman, and the Marketing and PR Director of Reeling 26, Alexis Whitham, on Feast of Fools.net.
See you next November!
