Reeling 2008: The 27th Chicago Lesbian & Gay International Film Festival is now accepting film and video entries for this year’s festival, which will take place November 6-15, 2008.
The Chicago Lesbian & Gay International Film Festival is the second oldest gay and lesbian film festival in the world and prides itself on showcasing the best LGBTQI films and videos from around the globe. From international feature films to social issue documentaries to experimental shorts, Reeling has always presented a range of genres that demonstrates the rich diversity of work being produced. The festival is not only one of the most important cultural events for Chicago audiences, it also attracts many people from throughout the Midwest who consider the festival to be the highlight of their cinematic year.
Reeling 2008 will screen over 100 independent films and videos over 10 days, from November 6-15, 2008. Through the generosity of our travel and hotel sponsors, Reeling is able to invite several filmmakers each year to attend the festival and discuss their work with the audience.
All entries are eligible for audience awards, as well as juried awards with cash prizes in the categories of Best Feature Film, Best Documentary Feature, Best Narrative Short, Best Documentary Short, and Best Experimental/Animated Film.

Now accepting music video entries
Reeling 2008: The 27th Chicago Lesbian & Gay International Film Festival is now accepting music video entries for the first ever 'Rock Reeling Queer Music Video Showcase,' which will be a highlighted program in this year's upcoming Reeling Film Festival taking place November 6-15, 2008.
Submitted queer music videos will be selected by an impressive panel of film and music industry professionals to be screened at this year's Reeling Film Festival.
The purpose of the 'Rock Reeling Queer Music Video Showcase' is to spotlight innovative uses of the film/video medium to promote queer musicians as well as musicians focusing substantially on developing a queer audience. With few outlets to see music videos on the 'big screen,' Reeling will celebrate the music video as an art form, as well as provide an opportunity for musicians active in the queer community to be seen and heard. Music videos will be accepted that are targeted to the queer community as well as performed, produced, and made by queer musicians and bands. Videos will be judged primarily based on the creative and effective use of the video medium, but also on the quality of the music.
All music video entries are eligible for audience awards.
